Realistic Paint Job for an Award-Winning Model

Federal Standard 595 has become a de-facto standard for color communication among the worldwide scale modeling community. This award-winning model of the notorious German Focke-Wulf Fw 190A-2 fighter has been finished in an authentic Luftwaffe color scheme. The modeler, Martin Waligorski from Sweden, used the color server's ability to display multicolor samples particularly helpful for making the paint job realistic.

"Modelers like me are often obsessed with accuracy and spend dozens of hours researching the details and paint schemes of the aircraft they're modeling. In case of historic aircraft, such research can be painstaking as information may be scarce, particularly on colors and camouflages from the era of black-and-white photography. For my World War II models I use the best available information to establish each individual camouflage color, then take one more step and experiment with minor adjustments to ensure that the colors look good together on the model. Harmonizing the colors adds immensely to the model's realism."
